The VI Family Network is pleased to find out about inclusive projects, suitable for children with vision impairment, and a recent find is North Steyne, located by Manly Beach, in Sydney.

This playground area was updated in late 2014 with playground equipment suitable for all children, supplied by Inclusive Play. The refurbished playground includes a Pod swing, Pachinko play panel, Fortune wheel, Tubophone, Wheelspin, Colourfly, Collider sound play, Fun reflections, and iSwing wheelchair swing.

Parents and care givers who frequent the playground with their children have praised Manly Council for this upgrade:

“My three year old son loves to play like any other child, however his vision impairment can often be a barrier to using certain equipment, and as a mother it worries me with regards to his social and physical development. This playground upgrade has been fantastic, and lets all kids be kids.”

Manly Council has gone the right way about this inclusive playground, and we would love to see more instances like this in the future.
